Un viaggio attraverso gli antichi di portali delle case di San Vito
A circuit has been created in order to let people
know the ancient portals of the houses of San
Vito. It's an initiative of the town cuncil with the
aim of getting the tourists in touch with the peculiarities
of the urban centre.
“San Vito has a beautiful territory
with no seaports -said Roberto Pili, the chairman of
Tourism-. This is why we do our best to valorize everything
that makes this area different and original with respect to
the neighbouring centres”.
This circuit has been anticipated
by in-depth studies and a photo laboratory on the same
subject “The result -explains Pili - is that the portals of San
Vito have unique features. It is actually the only place in
Sarrabus where it's possible to trace numerous portals with
the same ancient features, such as granite arches, the original
wooden portals with the old handles and the different
accessories used to knock on the door.
Depending on the
houses these accessories may consist of a lion face, small
vipers and other highly artistic creations.
Among all the studied
portals some thirty of them will be chosen to make it
possible for tourists to go sightseeing and be immersed in
the atmosphere of the ancient small towns of Sardinia,
where agriculture and pastoral farming used to characterize
the economy and the way of life.
